20% of Failed iPod Touch Wi-Fi Connection is Because of MAC Address

In one of my post’s I wrote that I will help with Wi-Fi and since 2008 I had over 2500 emails received. 20% of those emails were iPod Touch Wi-Fi failed Connection due to MAC Address. So just to be clear: MAC is not PC it’s Media Access Control which is basically unique (ID) identifier of your device.

PC’s have it, Smart Phone have it, iPod Touch has it too…etc…

WEP Key can be easily hacked for those that want to hack your Wi-Fi network, so router companies added nice feature called MAC Filtering.

When you Enable or turn on MAC Filtering and add only your MAC Address of iPod Touch or PC or Mac …your router basically will only allow THAT device to connect. So when hacker let’s say crack your WEP (Wireless Encryption Key) they still can’t connect because MAC Address of his PC is not allowed to connect.

Which brings me to the point of 20% of iPod Touch Wi-Fi connections failed due to MAC Filtering being enabled yet MAC Address of iPod Touch has not been added.

To obtain MAC address of your iPod Touch go to Settings > General > About (I think), sorry don’t have iPod Touch with me so I am just writing this from feeling where the MAC address is located on iPod Touch.

3.500.000 Visitors since 2008 on iPod Touch Tricks

So basically what we are trying to let you know that for many of new visitors this blog is No.1 source because we offer all types of troubleshooting, tips and tricks that nobody else cares about not even Apple.

I mean lets say that I (Joe) personally get at least 10-30 emails per day with problems that people have with their iPod Touch. Thing is Apple does not care you are just their customer to me you are iPod Touch owner as I am and we have something in common! Finding best Applications, What are the Best iPod Touch Games, Troubleshooting Wi-Fi, Changing iPod Touch Design and bunch of other things we all do on daily basis as iPod Touch owners.

Convert Videos for Ipod Touch - Video Converter

You got some videos on your pc and would like to convert
it for your ipod touch but don't know how?

Easy said, there is many software you can use, some are for free
and some of them are not.
I will give you two softwares that I tested my self, and one of them is free
and the other cost $29.

Free Software:

Videora - Videora for Ipod touch is cool software to convert your ipod touch videos.
It has many features but the only thing I did not like is converting time.

Takes about 2 hours to convert whole movie(700mb).
The quality is ok and everything but imagine having 10 movies to convert?
That will take you about 20 hours to convert all 10 of them, and that is if you have good laptop, mine is brand new.

Shareware Software:

Winavi - Winavi is one of the best video and music converters and I know from my own experience.
To convert 700mb movie took me only 12 minutes unlike videora 2 hours!.

Has a lot of other features like cd dvd burner and other tools.
What I like the most, you can preview the converversion video so you know exactly what you are going to see on your ipod touch.
Get your free trial, and if you like it buy it for $29.

I must say that at the beginning when I wanted to burn my first video I had some problems, the software crashed all the time, so what I did.
I turned off video preview and it works fine now. Only way to fix that is to download newest version of quicktime and then you can preview video as well.

pairing record error on iPhone and iPod Touch

when you upgrade your ipod touch to new version of 1.1.3 of firmware. You may get error message when you try to sync your ipod to computer.

The error like this:
iTunes could not connect to the iPod "YOUR NAME HERE" because
the pairing record is missing.

don’t worry if you get this error message it is vary easy to fix this problem. Just shutdown and then restart your computer. Ha ha its fulish solution but it works and fix the pairing record error on ipod touch.

The iPod Touch tip to Customize Home Screen

Customize home screen to arrange icons.

To rearrange the icons:
Normally home screen come first otherwise go to the home screen.
Now Touch and hold any icon on home screen (browser, email etc.).
when icon ready to change it will start to "wiggle" back and forth
Now drag the icons where you want to rearrange them.
Now press the square Home button to save changes.

Customize the music menu on the iPod Touch

When you click Music from the main screen of the iPod Touch, there are five icons (Playlists, Artists, Songs, Albums and More)at bottom of screen. You can customize this menu just click ‘edit’ from top- left side of screen. Now choose additional icons and drag it to existing icon that you want to replace with new icon.

now click "Done" and your changes will be saved.

Copy and Paste on iPod Touch

. iCopy is an application that allows you to copy paste fuction on ipod touch.

Some other ipod touch tips

1. If you’re watching long webpage in Safari – just tap on top bar of screen having time battery. Browser Safari will automatically scroll up to top and bring address bar.
2. Turn off WiFi and SSH (using Services from Installer) to save battery power when not in use.
3. within any application if you double click home button it will bring music controls.
